How to Apply for a Marriage License

You may apply in person for a marriage license Monday thru Friday 8:30am to 3:30pm, except legal holidays. You can apply online any time, but in order to complete the online application process, both applicants appear together at the Court between the hours listed above, with any additional required materials mentioned in these instructions.

At least one of the applicants must be a resident of Mercer County and the marriage must be performed in the State of Ohio. If both applicants are from out of state but wish to be married in Mercer County, they must obtain their license in Mercer County.

Proof of Identification, i.e. driver’s license, state ID card, or passport

If either applicant is under 18 years of age, please call Probate Court for additional requirements.

If either applicant has been previously married and divorced, information is needed from the final order or decree granting the divorce or dissolution for the most recent divorce. It is recommended you have a copy available to complete the application.

Cost of the license is $50 (cash or debit/credit card). (A processing fee is charged for card transactions).

License may be used the same day it is issued. It must be used within 60 days. The day of issue is day 1 of the 60 days.

No blood test is required.
